The obverse in the center of the coin is depicts portrait of the famous Italian poet of the 19th century, Giovanni Pascoli. On the right side of the portrait was painted the year of issue coin "2012" and the monogram of the Italian Republic "RI". On the left side of the portrait was painted the year of death of Giovanni Pascoli "1912", the initials of the designer of the coin "MCC" - Maria Carmela Colaneri, mint mark "R" and the inscription "Giovanni Pascoli". In the outer circle were painted 12 stars.

The reverse side depicted the nominal value of the coin from 2 euro.
